Cuba: Passenger aircraft crashes after taking off from Havana

A aircraft carrying 104 passengers has crashed rapidly after taking off from Jose Marti airport in Cuba’s capital, Havana, in line with insist media.

A Boeing 737 crashed « near the worldwide airport » on Friday, insist company Prensa Latina reported.

The aircraft became heading from the capital to the eastern city of Holguin, it added.

A message posted on Twitter by Prensa Latina showed a thick column of smoke rising into the sky.

Fire crews and ambulances are on the scene, the company reported. 

Cuba’s President Miguel Diaz-Canel, who went to communicate about with the scene, acknowledged there became a « high number » of casualties, in line with AFP news company. 

« There became an wretched aviation accident. The news is no longer very promising, it sounds as if there might be a high resolution of victims, » Diaz-Canel became quoted as announcing.
